Sarah Tucker:My Books help children make good choices concerning behavior and learning good habits.

1. Can you start by telling me a little bit about yourself?

I’ve been involved in children’s media since I was 15 years old. I started as an actress and producer for Fox Kids Club, Acted and Produced Theatre for Covenant Players, and then worked directly with teaching children co-owning a martial arts school with my husband. I used my media experience to develop a visually based character development curriculum currently used by martial arts schools worldwide to teach 3-7-year-olds life lessons.

2. When did you first realize that you wanted to be an author and when did you publish your first book? How many books you have published so far?

I have always enjoyed creative writing. I created the main character in my book series in a homework assignment when I was fifteen years old. I continued to study screenwriting in college, which is probably why my writing style is more like a movie script than a conventional children’s book.

I wrote one of my books back in 2005, but we decided to produce it as a cartoon at the time. We decided to start publishing them in July 2020.

We have published six books since then.

3. Where do you get your inspiration from and can you tell me about your writing schedule? Like how many hours per day do you spend on your books?

The inspiration for our book series comes directly from working with parents and children. Helping children make good choices concerning behavior and learning good habits. The stories almost write themselves when you have the real-life experience of teaching and helping them grow up.

I had created outlines and storyboards for most of my books while producing them as cartoons, so converting them into books didn’t take as long as starting from scratch. I spend much time brainstorming and taking notes by hand on new story ideas and writing dialogue between our characters.

4.Can you tell me a little bit about your books? What do you intend to achieve through your books and where can people purchase them?

Our Series is about our main character Harry and his adventures with his friends. Harry learns about the importance of focus, respect, perseverance, honesty, and courage through his experiences and the wisdom of his martial arts instructor. Harry has a vivid imagination, and his daydreams take the reader through fantastic superhero experiences.

Our books' visual aspect is a little more involved with our background in producing cartoons than most other children's books. All the books are fully illustrated, and the pictures tell a lot of the story.

Parents can find more info at AdventuresofHarryandFriends.com and download free activity sheets there. The books are available on Amazon and BarnesandNoble.com

5. What do you like to do when you are not writing?

I love to travel! We own a sailing catamaran and enjoy cruising.

6. What have you learned in creating your books so far?

I’m so happy that both parents and children love them. I’ve learned that we have developed a style that gets both of them excited!

As for the publishing side I've learned a lot in a small amount of time. The number one thing is patience and perseverance.

7. What advice would you give to other authors?

It’s never been easier to publish your book! Don’t be in a hurry to publish it's ok to work on draft after draft. Don’t compare yourself to others' success or failures; learn from them. Ask questions and do a lot of marketing research. Also, Go For it!

8.Do you provide other services to help other authors?

I love to discuss my experiences with other authors. We can all learn from each other!

9.How do you market your books?

We market on social media, Amazon and are planning a book tour!

10. What are your plans for the future? Do you have more publications on the way?

We have many more books planned in the Adventures of Harry and Friends series and a spin-off graphic novel series featuring Harry’s favorite superhero for older kids!
